Carbery Rangers 1-08 Dohenys 1-06 Junior F League       01-03-10

The Junior team were in league action on Monday night in Dunmanway against the home side and won by 1-08 to 1-06. This was a result that looked most unlikely as the Dohenys led by 4 points to no score after twenty minutes. Sean O’Neill opened the scoring for Ross with a point and two more from Niall Hayes and Colin Murphy had Ross back in the game, but a goal for the home side on the stroke of half time gave them the advantage. Ross were level early in the second half when Niall found the back of the net from a penalty after Sean O’Neill was pulled down. Rangers hit the front with ten minutes to go as Kieran Fitzpatrick scored a fine point before Padraig Hodnett got the final score. Team: Robbie Ahern, Daniel Harte, Stephen Hicks, Michael Cussen, Anthony Roche, Enda Favier, Peter Nagle, Eugene Murphy, Padraig Hodnett, Sean McCarthy, Colin Murphy, Kieran Fitzpatrick, James Hicks, Niall Hayes and Sean O’Neill. Carbery Rangers 0-05 Muintir Bhaire 0-09 Junior D Championship 22-08-09
The junior d team played Muintir Bhaire on Saturday evening in Durrus and were defeated by 9 points to 5. The result was disappointing as Ross had played a few recent league matches and had got good results. The scoring was low and it took a quarter of an hour before the first score was registered by half time the Rangers were trailing 5 points to 2 and a big effort was required in the heavy surface as the rain poured down. Ross did not score until the last 10 minutes and at this stage they trailed 9 points to 2. Despite scoring 3 on the trot it was too little to late and so they bowed out of the championship for another season.  Team: Roy Hawkins, Niall Fitzpatrick, Jeremy Murphy, Padraig O’Donovan, Eoin Milner, Michael Walsh, Peter Nagle, Gerard Flavin, Sam Dignan, Brendan Canty, Ronan Milner, Eoin Lane , Raymond Hayes, Philip Moore, Colm Milner. Subs: Mark Tobin and Denis Calnan.

Carbery Rangers junior team bowed out of the championship when they were defeated by Castlehaven in Skibbereen last week on a score of 12 points to 11. Ross started poorly and trailed by six points at the break, a much improved performance in the second half saw them come within one point.

Carbery Rangers 1-13 Kilmeen 1-11 League 17-07-09
Carbery Rangers junior 4 team had a good win over Kilmeen in a league game recently. It was a victory that looked most unlikely as they trailed 1-3 to no
score after 10 minutes. However they had leveled the game by half time and in an exiting finish they went on to win on a score of 1-13 to 1-11.Team: Roy Hawkins, Padraig O’Donovan, Sam Dignan, Donal Santry, Daniel Harte, Mike Walsh, Niall Fitzpatrick, Ger Flavin, Ivan Jennings, Barry O’Hea, Ronan Milner, Brendan Canty, Colm Milner, Philip Moore, Raymond Hayes, Subs Brendan O’Sullivan, Denis Mc Sweeney and Niall Flavin.
Carbery Rangers 1-08    Ilen Rovers  0-10     Championship  28-06-09

Carbery Rangers junior footballers advanced to the next round of the championship when they scored a one point win over Ilen Rovers at Castlehaven on Sunday last. After a very disappointing defeat to Oliver Plunketts in the first round it was vital that Rangers would put in a solid display in this game and that is just what transpired.

Ross got off to the perfect start when Alan Jennings raced through the Ilen defense to find the back of the net in the second minute. A good start is half the battle and that goal was to prove decisive in the end. Ilen did come back and led at the break by 7 points to 1-02 but with Maurice Moore in fine scoring form scoring five of his six points in the second half and Rangers were not to be denied a deserved victory with a final score of 1-08 to 0-10. Team: Robbie Ahern, James Cussen, Alan Ronan, Colin Murphy, Eoin Kelly, Anthony Roche, Michael Cussen, Nicholas Peters, John Lawlor, Enda Favier, Alan Jennings, James Hicks, Maurice Moore, Brian Hayes, Sean O’Neill, Subs: Daniel Kelly and Shane Goggin.

Carbery Rangers 0-01    Oliver Plunkets  0-10     Championship  06-06-09

Carbery Rangers junior footballers were defeated by Oliver Plunkets in the championship on Saturday evening last in Rossmore on a score line of 10 points to 1.

Ross played against a strong wind in the first half and despite trailing by 2 to 1 at the break the signs looked good for the Rangers, as they would be favored by the elements in the turn around. In the first half Ross looked the most likely to succeed as they had a couple of goal chances and a few scoreable attempts were wide of the mark. Our backs were on top particularly Anthony Roche and James Cussen along with goalie Robbie Ahern who had a great outing. What we saw in the second half was a complete change as Plunkets stepped up a gear and dominated all over the field, taking their scores with ease as Rangers challenge faded out in very disappointing fashion. Rangers now play Ilen Rovers in the next round and will have to improve significantly if they want to have a say in this year’s championship Team: Robbie Ahern, Michael Cussen, Anthony Roche, Colin Murphy, James Cussen, Alan Ronan, Enda Favier, John Lawlor, Alan Jennings, James Hicks, Geoff Wycherley, Kieran Fitzpatrick, Brian Hayes, Eugene Murphy, Sean O’Neill. Subs: Daniel Kelly, Connor Ryan and Kieran O’Brien.

At the other end Robbie Ahern made a great save but Dohenys were at hand for the rebound and scored a goal to lead at the break by a point. In a fairly even first half Ross conceded a rather soft goal as the half drew to a close however a mix up in the Drimoleague defence left Ross in for a goal from Padraig Hodnett which put a fair reflection on the 1-04 to 1-02 scoreboard at the short whistle in favour of the men from the west. The second period began with Ross having wind advantage and an early goal from Niall Hayes for the Rangers kept the sides evenly balanced through the half with the winning point coming from a long range free from the booth of Maurice Moore. Ross players to impress were Michéal Kelly James Cussen in the defence and up the field we had Niall Hayes and John Lawlor the ones who shone out.   Team: Connor Ryan, Michéal Kelly, Stephen Hicks, Colin Murphy, James Cussen, Stephen Murray, Enda Favier, John McCarthy, Alan Jennings, Padraig Hodnett, John Lawlor, Daniel Kelly, James Hicks, Niall Hayes, Shane Goggin.
