The Sam Maguire Cup will be in Rosscarbery on this Saturday the 13th November. A photo opportunity will be available at the Celtic Ross Hotel from 6 to 7.45pm. At 7pm music will be provided in the square, and at 8pm the homecoming parade will be held when some of the Cork footballers will be taking part including local Cork players John Hayes, Kevin MacMahon and minor star John O’Rourke. It is a great occasion for the club as John and Kevin are the first Carbery Rangers players to win Senior All Ireland medals with Cork and a large turn out is expected.

Rosscarbery U16 footballers will play Boherbue in the County final on Saturday at 2pm in Coachford and we wish them the very best of luck. This is the second year in a row to have reached the final and your support would be welcome. Don’t forget it’s only a week to the AGM which will be held on the 20th November.

Carbery Rangers minor footballers bowed out of the premier minor championship at Macroom on Sunday evening last, going down to Na Piarsaigh 2-12 to 2-7. The game was even enough before Na Piarsaigh struck for a goal at the quarter hour mark. Ross responded well and the lead was down to a single point when Gearóid O’Brien found the net after John O’Rourke’s effort had been blocked. Na Piarsaigh replied with a couple of points and deep into injury time they had their second goal and Ross now had a mountain to climb if they were to get back into the game in the second half. Worse was to follow for the Ross boys as Na Piarsaigh scored 3 points in as many minutes to leave a nine point gap. The Ross boys had to dig deep, as the game was slipping away from them, and in a seven minute spell the lead was down to a goal 2-6 to 2-9 the second goal coming from Eoin Lane. Once again Na Piarsaigh scored 3 points to widen the gap with a quarter to go, and despite the Ross boys having the bulk of possession for the remainder of the game a single point was all that was registered on the scoreboard.  Team: Paul Shanahan, Bobby Kelly, Michéal O’ Donovan, David Flavin, Thomas O’Rourke, Connor O’Rourke, Ian Ronan, John O’Rourke, Peter Nagle, Gearóid O’Brien, Eoin Lane, Terry O’Donovan, Padraig Hicks, Ronan Milner, Christopher O’Donovan. Subs: Alan O’Regan and Sean O’Regan.
