Carbery Rangers 2-15  Carrigaline 1-08          12-07-10    F Championship
Carbery Rangers minor team were in premier championship action on Monday evening in Bandon against Carrigaline and won out on a score of 2-15 to 1-8. It was Carrigaline who were first to score but when Ronan Milner was fouled, Christopher O’Donovan was on hand to slot over the resulting free. Chris was on target again from a free when Gearóid O’Brien was fouled. Then John O’Rourke was on hand to score the first Ross point from play, and when Eoin Lane intercepted a passing movement from the Carrigaline backs he delivered a perfect ball to Padraig Hicks, who found the back of the net. Chris then had his first point from play while Padraig added another from a free to leave Ross well in command 1-6 to a single point for the Carrigaline men after fifteen minutes. Two more points for Carrigaline followed and when a long pass out of defence found Padraig he went on a solo run before raising the green flag for his second goal of the game. Chris then found Eoin with a lovely pass and he duly put it over the bar, it was then Christopher’s turn to be on the receiving end of a fine pass from John O’ to give Rangers a very commanding lead at the break of 2-8 to 3 points.

Carrigaline came out with all guns blazing early in the second half and inside 2 minutes had registered a goal and a point, as they set about making inroads to the Ross lead. Three more points followed as they put Rangers under pressure and the lead was down to just 4 points with fifteen minutes remaining. Ross responded in great style and for the remainder of the game the Ross backs held Carrigaline scoreless. The first Ross point of the second half came from Ronan, and then Gearóid O’Brien added his name to the score sheet. Gearóid was then fouled and Chris pointed the free while the same two players combined again to score another from play. Terry O’Donovan won a great ball on the wing and after a solo run he found Peter Nagle unmarked and his effort raised another white flag. With time running out Terry found Christopher and with his left leg he scored his seventh point of the game to cap a fine performance. The last score of the game came from substitute Sean O’Regan who put it over the bar on the full time mark.
