Carbery Rangers had 2 football teams in league action in Bishopstown on Sunday last.First up were the under14s against Mitchlestown in the Premier 2 league, missing a few players  for this game Ross started well and continued to lead through the half and were up a point at the break. News
28-05-2013There was disappointment for the under 13 footballers when they were defeated by Courcey Rovers in the County Final on Sunday last. The much stronger Rovers made all the early running and soon found themselves 1-06 to the good, but this Ross team battled back in to the game and with the helped of 2 goals from John Patrick Eady and points from the impressive Eoghan Hayes only 2 points separated the sides at the break on a score of 2-06 to 2-04. In the second half Courcey’s made their strength count and added 2 goals and some well taken points to their tally. This very young Ross team continued to play their lovely blend of football and were rewarded with a third goal, but on this occasion had to settle for second best. The club are very proud of the lads who were playing against players much older then themselves all year and to make a County final is a great achievement. Well done to all involved. UNDER 13 C FOOTBALL FINAL
CARBERY RANGERS 7-16 ST. COLUM’S 3-04
There was great joy for the footballers of Carbery Rangers on Monday night when they defeated St. Colum’s to capture the Rebel Og under 13 C football Championship at Aughaville.Carbery Rangers started in blistering form and early points from Ciaran Calnan and Eoghan Hayes saw them take a foot hold on the game. Things only got better when John Patrick Eady and Hayes again hit the Colum’s net to put Ross 2-03 ahead. Rudi Gaffney got Colum’s off the mark with a goal and a point in the 11 minute to close the gap.The St. Colum’s defence with Jack Murphy playing a great game at full-back were doing their best to keep Ross at bay but 2 quick goals from John Patrick Eady and Ciaran Calnan pushed Ross further ahead. A well taken point by Colums Centre- forward Cormac O’Connor left the half time score Carbery Rangers 4-06 St. Colum’s 1-02.The second half started with a point from Ross centre- back Kieran O’Regan from the outside of the boot, then the impressive Michael O’Shea of Colum’s scored 1-1 in the space of a minute. Any chance of a come back for St’ Colums were quickly dashed when goals from Ray Shanahan, Ciaran Calnan and Eoghan Hayes who had a great outing at centre-forward for Ross. Cormac O’Connor and Jack Dinneen who tried their best through out for the western’s had late points but this was not going to be enough to stop Ross winning a first title at this level. On the night Carbery Rangers were the better balanced team with Paul Hodnett and Sean Hurley very solid in the Ross back line and Ciaran Calnan working very hard in midfield along with Oisin Murray at wing back. St Colum’s also had their stars in the shape of Jack Murphy, Michael O’Shea and goalie Fionnan O’Sullivan who made some great saves during the game.At the end of the game Carbery Rangers captain and goalkeeper Daniel McSweeney accepted the cup on behalf of a delighted Ross team.Carbery RangersDaniel McSweeney, Sean Hurley, Paul Hodnett, Oisin Murray, Kieran O’Regan, David O’Regan, Ciaran Calnan, Ray Shanahan, Jack O’Regan, Andrew Whelton, Eoghan Hayes and John Patrick Eady.
